The state parliament of Saxony-Anhalt is more than just a place of politics, it is also a place of encounters and exchanges. There are various events that take place regularly and are adapted to different age groups.
Adolescents are a member of the parliament for one day
Since 1997 the Youth Parliament meets in the State Parliament of Saxony-Anhalt once-a-year. For one day students from three schools in Saxony-Anhalt have the possibility to play politician and to discuss about self-chosen issues.
Six weeks before the Youth Parliament meets, there is a workshop to prepare the issues. That is how themes, like the amendment on the youth protection law, performance evaluations in schools and the codetermination in the local politics were part of the agenda of the youth parliament.
Every two years: senior forums
In the past 20 years, the implementation of the senior forums has become a parliamentary tradition. The senior forum allows representatives of the elder generation to exchange and to discuss their ideas about the development of the senior policy directly with state parliamentary delegates. In different working groups, concrete issues are discussed and resolutions are developed. They are not legally binding, but are major impulses in the sector of senior policies in the state.
Regularly new exhibitions
